INSTRUCTIONS FOR POCKET SHARPS CONTAINER

To remove and discard used pen needles:

  • Do not re-shield the needle. Hold the container in the palm of your hand or place it a flat surface. While holding the container with one hand carefully insert the pen tip into the center opening.
  • Pull the pen back through the loosening teeth until it clicks in place.
  • While holding the container, rotate the pen counter-clockwise to loosen the pen needle. Continue rotating until the needle is safely detached from the pen. The needle will fall into the container.
  • If the pen needle gets caught in opening, use the pen to push it into the container. Do not use your finger or hand.
  • When the sharps reach the fill line, push the tab two clicks to the permanent lock position.

ATTENTION! PUSH THE TAB ONCE TO THE “CLOSE” POSITION AFTER EACH USE. WHEN THE SHARPS REACH THE FILL LINE, PUSH THE TAB TWO CLICKS TO THE PERMANENT “LOCK” POSITION.

ONCE THE CONTAINER IS PERMANENTLY LOCKED, IT CANNOT BE RE-OPENED AGAIN!

WARNING.

  • TO AVOID INJURY, CAREFULLY EXAMINE THE CONTAINER FOR SAFETY BEFORE YOU FILL, CARRY, OR DISPOSE OF IT. NOT INTENDED FOR FLUID WASTE.
  • DO NOT OVERFILL.
  • PROPERLY DISPOSE OF THE ENTIRE CONTAINER WHEN FILL LINE IS REACHED.
  • ENSURE FINAL LOCK PRIOR TO DISPOSAL.
  • KEEP CONTAINER OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

  • Use the eject button on your lancing device to release the lancet directly into the container.
  • Similarly, use the eject button on your glucose meter to release the strips in the container and push the tab once to close the container.
  • When the fill line is reached, push the tab two clicks to the permanent lock position.
  • Lastly, drop off the container at a hazardous collection facility near you.
